Concessional contribution caps

Health Super informs its members about the concessional contribution caps

Leading industry super fund, Health Super is demonstrating it cares for its members by informing those members who are approaching, or who have exceeded the concessional contribution caps introduced in the last Federal Budget.

Health Super has commenced tracking those members who are approaching, and who have exceeded the cap on a monthly basis. This could result in members who are not aware of the caps saving paying extra tax. Health Super is then sending those members a letter to inform them that they are either approaching or have exceeded the cap.

"We care about our members. This initiative is important as it provides our members with information that could potentially save them paying unnecessary tax", explains Carol McKelson-Timmins, Chief Operations Officer, Health Super.

"It's another example of how we put our members' interests first".

As announced in the Federal Budget 2009, from 1 July last year the cap on before-tax contributions (which includes Superannuation Guarantee (SG) and salary sacrificed amounts) has been reduced. This means the rate of tax payable by members has increased for amounts made above the new cap limits listed below.
