Health Super invests to maximise investment returns by diversifying its investments across a mix of asset classes, underlying investment managers and industry sectors.
The investment objectives and other characteristics (including risk profile) of each investment option are outlined below and in the Investment Guide.
Please note: that the investment objectives relating to the Standard Medium-Term Growth and SRI Medium-Term Growth option are the same (although the strategy for achieving them may differ).
To achieve the investment objective of each investment option, we select a long-term target proportion of growth assets to income assets that is most likely to meet the option's investment objective.
Growth assets have the potential to achieve capital growth over the medium to long term. Typically, they are investments in property and Australian and International shares. Historically, it has been found that while in the long term these types of assets have the potential to produce greater benefits, they can be more volatile (or risky) in the short term when compared with income assets and they have a greater potential to produce negative returns in the short to medium term.
Income assets generally provide a fixed income and include bonds, bank bills, debentures and cash. These investments are generally considered to be less risky than growth assets, but at times, they can produce a negative return.
Asset allocations are reviewed formally at least once a year and the Trustee and its investment advisers constantly monitor our investments throughout the year.
For more information about the Investment options refer to the Health Super Accumulation Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and Investment Guide.
