Payment deadines
Quarterly Superannuation Guarantee (SG) took effect from 1 July 2003. From this date, it is mandatory that SG contributions be made at least on a quarterly basis instead of annually.
The dates for quarterly SG are as follows:
|
Quarter |
Cut-off date for SG contributions |
Due date for lodgement of SG statement and payment of SG charge if contributions have not been made in time |
| 1 July-30 September | 28 October | 14 November |
| 1 October-31 December | 28 January | 14 February |
| 1 January-31 March | 28 April |
14 May |
| 1 April-30 June | 28 July | 14 August |
What if I pay contributions late?
If you miss the deadlines and make late Superannuation Guarantee (SG) contributions, the SG laws will provide some relief from double payment penalties. This will apply to those employers who have sent SG contributions to super funds shortly after the quarterly cut-off dates. This is known as the late payment offset.

Processing tip:
When making contributions send us your payment and data file together.
Importance of encouraging employees to provide tax file numbers
Whilst it is not an offence for employees not to quote their TFN, they need to be aware that they will be paying the highest marginal tax rate on their superannuation benefit payments. Also, higher tax rates apply to taxable contributions, and Health Super is unable to accept non-concessional contributions.
Are you an unregistered Health Super Employer?
If you have not registered with Health Super as a participating employer, we can still accept contributions for your employees who are Health Super members. Please use the form below to submit your contribution data to Health Super. We will then transfer the information into your employees' accounts.
