Chief Executive Officer

Michael Dwyer

Michael Dwyer AM

Michael joined as Chief Executive Officer in December 2004. Michael has extensive experience in the superannuation industry having worked in a number of senior positions including the role of General Manager and Fund Secretary of one of Australia's larger industry superannuation funds and has also gained experience as Company Secretary of a Corporate Trustee.

He is an active participant in the superannuation industry having served for many years as a Director of the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia and has played significant roles in other industry bodies.

As Chief Executive Officer of the Trustee, Michael reports to the Trustee Board and exercises the day to day management of the Trustee. This includes:

  • Monitoring the performance of funds under management,
  • Monitoring custody and administration service providers, and
  • Managing the executive team of superannuation and communication specialists.

Michael's focus is to ensure that the Trustee receives expert professional advice on which to make its decisions and then to ensure those decisions are implemented. 

 

Board

Our Board comprise six member-representative and six employer-representative directors. The Board is also chaired by an independent Chairperson.

An 'employer representative' means they were nominated by an organisation representing the interests of employers. 

A 'member representative' means they were nominated by a trade union or other organisation, representing the interests of members.

Chairman

Thomas Parry AM

Chairman 
Thomas Parry is the Independent Director and Chairman of the Board. He is also the Chairman of Sydney Water Corporation; Chairman of the Australian Energy Market Operator; a Director of ASX - Market Supervision; a consultant to Duet Limited, a listed company which invests in energy utility assets; and Director, Sydney Opera House Trust.

He has held a number of important positions in regulation and public policy and has been a consultant to the Commonwealth and NSW State Governments. His former positions include: Foundation Executive Chairman of the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal of NSW; Foundation NSW Natural Resources Commissioner; Director of the NSW Clinical Excellence Commission; Associate Commissioner of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission; Director of South East Sydney Area Health Service; and a member of the NSW Council on the Cost and Quality of Government. He has been an adjunct Professor of Economics at the University of New South Wales and Dean of the Faculty of Commerce.

Member Representative, Australian Nursing Federation (ANF) (Victorian Branch). Prior to her retirement, Belinda was a Clinical Nurse with Western Hospital in Footscray, Victoria. She served the ANF (Victorian Branch) from 1986 to 2001, initially as a Professional Officer and then as Branch Secretary.
